Dr Zoe Zontou

Dr Zoe Zontou is an Associate Professor in Drama and Theatre Studies at Liverpool Hope University. She has over 15 years of experience in applied theatre research and practice working in the field of applied theatre with people in recovery from substance misuse. Her research covers a wide range of topics, including autobiography in performance, addiction studies and cultural theory, which are examined through their relationship with applied theatre. 

Dr Cathy Sloan

Cathy is currently a lecturer in Applied and Socially Conscious Theatre at London College of Music, University of West London. Formerly Artistic Director of Outside Edge Theatre Company, she is a practitioner and researcher specialising in addiction-recovery performance practice and collaborative theatre-making. Her doctoral research, and upcoming book, documents an ethos of recovery-engaged performance practice. She is a founder member of the addiction-recovery arts network and organised the first live launch event which took place at LCM in September 2022.

leon is a transdisciplinary artist and PhD creative practice researcher at University of West London. He is an artist in recovery who explores their experiences of grief through creative practice.

Bernadette Molton

Editorial Board Member

Bernadette is seven and a half years in recovery herself. She is currently employed at Theatre Royal Plymouth in various roles. She is extremely passionate about using arts to help people recover and live their dreams. She is also a writer and a poet.

Sara Rhodes

Editorial Board Member

Sara is the Associate Director, Co-Curated and Outdoor Work at the Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP). Sara has been working in the recovery arts sector for the last 10 years, producing TRP’s flagship community programme Our Space that works with adults with lived experience of homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse and re-offending.
